Error 1722

Error 1722 - heeeeeeeeeeeeelp

Customer with Asus eee...xp pro.sp3

installed 100% a few days back - the stock standard e220 even worked 100% on xp for half a day.

he came back this morning 2 me with this error when inserting the e220(running vmclite setup) .

error 1722.there is a problem with this windows installer packacge. a program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected.contact your support personnel or package vendor.Action InstallDrivers, location: C:\ ...\DriverInstaller.exe , command: OK button

error 1722 is installer package related it seems

i've :

*updated the firmware to latest - didn't help
*i've tried another e220 with latest firmware - exact same message
**i've downloaded windows installer package 3.1 - it stopped the service , and updated it - didn't help
*i've downloaded a java installer package - didn't help
*i ran ccleaner (latest) to remove temp files,and fix registry hickups - didn't help
*i've downloaded vmc lite from VC site (13~ish MB download) - same error

no go! any ideas?

Possibly to do with SP3 ?

worked for half a day without problems - he then decided to update the software....

i've now updated my PERSONAL laptop with sp3 and my e220 - exact same version as his - installed without issues...

JIG - i'm so not lus to reinstall xp........

disable the installer service and reboot check if the error comes back up, empty the temp folder as well, check if the package was extracted to c:/ and delete the extracted files, reboot then enable the service, see how you go then

thanks for the inputs....tried everything as u said - received the error again...

did the evilness and reinstalled xp....all updates and drivers...now works purrrrfectly...on sp2 now..not sp3

I have the exact same problem, except im using vista. anyone got any ideas?
