Greetings all

I receive an error when trying to copy large files (350mb) to my USB stick. The process starts out normally but then becomes slower and slower until it just hangs on a file.

Is the stick damaged? Can it be repaired? Should I have bought a name brand? :D

Thanks in advance
Don

If it is FAT - try to format it to FAT32 or NTFS. Remember to backup your data first and if you use NTFS the drive will not be readable with Windows 98. Only Windows XP or later.

Hope it helps.

You also have to format your flash drive every now and then if you regularly copy & delete files from it, because you'll slowly lose free space that way - or at least this is what I found with my old Apacer 4GB flash drive.
If you didn't format it recently, then you might find yourself in a situation where the reported free space differs from the actual free space.

I have formatted it a couple of times as both FAT32 and NTFS with no success. The stick is only 2 weeks old. It's a SMYKA.

I'm now running the CHKFlsh program on the disc to see what's what.

Thank you all for your input!

Its fried, might be faulty memory our memory controller. Chkdsk will probably strugal to finish.
