Hey all.

My old PC was going slow recently, so I decided to format it completely (using KillDisk) and load Linux Mint on it.
Before I did this, I set the boot priority to CD (I have a CD and a DVD drive), and I put the KillDisk CD inside and successfully formatted it.

However now, when I restart the computer(without the CD) it just says "error loading operating system". I have a mint DVD and USB but I can't change the boot priority (I can't get into the BIOS). But I can still load from the killdisk CD.

So anyone know how to fix this? And worst case scenario, anyone know some Mint package <700Mb? Or any other small, user friendly distro?

You've deleted your operating system, and now you wonder why you can't boot?
Step away from the PC.

There is nothing on the hard drive, this is a dead standard, normal error message.

Did you burn the ISO correctly? It should try booting from different media until it finds a boot image unless specifically denied this in the BIOS.

Why can't you get into the BIOS? Is it password locked? Have you tried to clear the CMOS?

There is a lot of things to try.
* Disconnect any peripherals other than the DVD drive and the HDD
* Swap out the cables from the CD and DVD drive
* Get into the BIOS!
* Most BIOS have an option to enter a boot menu, get the key combination for this
etc.

Thanks, problem solved, got into the BIOS (Seems I wasnt pressing fast enough :P)

I knew this, I was wondering why I couldn't get into the BIOS ( I didn't know if this was the standard error message). I should of worded my question better.
