Hi,

Im new to Iburst - just took over someones contract. When do u we get uncapped for september? Coz I'm still capped.

On the cool side I live in the apartment complex that houses tower 25 in JHB so I have avg. signal strength of -65db which is supposed to be good...just wanna get uncapped so I can try this puppy out.

capping works on calander days ... ie. 1st - last day of the month. if you are still capped and it's the 1st .. try to disconnect and connect again ..... if that does not help phone iburst and have a wonderfull discussion with one of the techies .....

-65db.... Bast@rd :).....

You should be uncapped by now, if not phone iBurst quickly. My bandwidth was reset this morning no problem...

something wrong here

With a signal strength of -67db on avg. and a tower load of 2 im getting a speed test of 217kb from Iburst - i used DRTCP to change the setting according to a posters signature...why else could the speeds be so slow?

Are you using a router connected to the iBurst modem? If you are then you may want to set the MTU settings on the router - and not on your PC with Dr TCP

217? That sucks...

You say -67db on average... does it bounce a lot? You need a steady signal....

If you are using an antenna try move it until the signal is steady. Mine is -78db and never changes. My average speed in daytime is about 500 - 600kb and 800-900kb at night.

strange. I'm sure some of the others will be able to give you advice on this - perhaps start a separate thread particular to that issue?

i am almost sure that this might be a tower issue ... maybe overloaded ??

Well day time speeds dhould be lower than "normal" or night time.

Try running the speed test again, or use a different one just to check.

But you sdhould get great speeds, wait til tonight to see what its really capable of, then if daytiime is that bad, it must be the tower.

Definitely a tower issue! The noise can be quite irrelevant depending on which tower you connect to. I have a signal that hovers between a measly -92 and -98dB (at 98%-100% signal) and get constant 1mb at night and 700-900kbps during the day. Low latency too!
*Humps Bramley North Tower in glee* :D

We're moving soon but not far from where we are, I am hoping we don't get pinned with Northcliff again.

QFT - I know. I think they built the tower underground, probably sent one of their accountants to do it as well...

just a thought, maybe the tower in your area went offline and still trying to reboot...

check if you are hopping between towers

Nope, i don't hop. 2nd best is nr56 unkown with a strength that is 35 weaker...hahaha

Though i noticed now that the load is ALWAYS 3...they definitely need to put up another tower here. Then it overloads and kicks everyone out (i think, well, that's what i feel is happening), loses connection for a second and is back up overloaded. Seriously, look at this.

*edit: i think i'm gonna start a thread, this pathetic towers deserve some attention
