Hi

I would like to know if there's anyone here that goes to this place? I received a pamphlet today and their gym contract seems to be cheap (from R69pm). Is it worth joining?

Thanks

i used to go there a few years ago when i lived in Umhlanga, and it was a nice gym, friendly staff and good equipment.
they are not as intimidating as one of the larger gyms like virgin active and the likes.
the last time i was there they didn't have a pool though.

thing is i don't have medical aid to take advantage of virgin active and they are expensive for me to afford.

i will visit escape and make a decision from there.

thanks again

hey man, any further feedback on the gym? and its pricing? Might be interested..as VA is too expensive for me :(

Howsit, I didn't get into contact with them as yet, but i think it's best to visit them and take it from there because i'm getting mixed advice from people i've been speaking to off the forums because they compare Escape to VA. according to their pamphlet which i have recieved the other day it starts from R69pm but reserved for the first 100 bookings.

I have been going to Escape on a daily basis for my lunch hour during my working days for a month now. All their staff members have a relationship with Jesus and are not shy to share their faith or accept others of different faith. I have been treated with cutesy and respect and I feel totally welcome and cared for by every person who works there and goes to the gym. I have had EMS Treatments twice a week and used the sauna often and I have used their equipment. I would not hesitate to join. I am not sure whose name is on your pamphlet but I would appreciate it if you would tell them that Derrick’s client - me - Sandie Riddin encouraged you to join. You won’t be sorry, I enjoy every time that I am there. Hope to see you there soon. Thanks

That would put me off - gymming and being preached to about how awesome Jesus is. You want to get fit - you go to gym, you want to be with Jesus - you go to Church.

VA compared to Escape

Since 2007, I was nominated free at VA because my daughter was a personal Trainer there. She no longer works there. Like most people, I too cannot afford VA although I would love to go there.

Sure VA has got great facilities but ESCAPE has all that I used at VA and I am happy. I lost 1kg in the first few days and I have lost 18cms around my abdomen in the first week. From experience, I enjoy their atmosphere, equipment, sauna, treatment, showers, fellow clients and staff.

I highly recommend you go and test Escape for yourself and I am sure you will come to the same conclusion. Ultimately, it is up to you whether you want to take advantage of their cheaper offer for very similar facilities which do exactly what would cost you much more at VA.

Your whole family can share a contract with you so that it works out cheaper for each individual too.

Please take your pamphlet and or just pitch up and mention that Sandie Riddin encouraged you as you will receive the favour I feel I have received there if you mention my name.

I did not say they preach at you. I was trying to encourage you to go where people respect your faith and live their faith in that they are respectful and honest and kind. They really care because they are a Christian run gym not just an average gym. They have not preached to or at me in all the time I am there. I just noticed that they care for the whole person and are available if someone wants Christian Counsel. Hope that clears you concerns.

Thing is, even with a medical aid they are expensive :(

I used to go to that gym when they first opened and there was nothing about it being a gym with christian values. Just a gym with reasonable rates.

I hate that place. They really try to cut costs every way they can, and you can tell.

The main reason I train there is bcos they're open 24hrs. I train at nights from 9 to10:30. If there. Was another gym open 24hrs in the area, I'd gladly give that a try
