Apparently Escom stated that there will be no loadshedding next week.

Nice play by the government. It will not be too wise to remind the voters that they are sitting in the dark because of their incompetence in the same week that they are under the spotlight for giving them their 'freedom'.

In a way it make sense if 60% of the normal working days is not utilized to full capacity.

They also said "no loadshatting on weekends". Today is Saturday and guess what...

Eskom announcements are best treated as rumours rather than as facts.

Same here, can't understand why there is a need for loadshedding on the weekends as factories&offices are closed:mad:

Its pre-emptive, which means there is no need as there is not an overutilisation of capacity (which is true during working hours for the most part). Merely get you used to continual loadshedding. Probably saves on coal, so they can replace the stockpiles they depleted through their inept BEE partner plan.

The announcement concerns week 18 i.e. they're not load-shedding from Monday.

What's funny is that they say that domestic users are the most to blame and then when those same domestic users will all be at home, there will be no loadshedding? Hmm ..... do I smell a bunch of idiots. :D

They can blame their filthy nostrils, we pay what we use

Just wait until 2010 and I'm going to buy two extra geysers, electric heaters and put 'em on!

Oh! and some energy wasting light bulbs! Special for 2010 they give 60W of light for 200W of input!

Do they do "glow in the dark" footballs??

:D:D:D

What makes you think you'll have any electricity then? We'll all be cut off to make sure the stadiums and the expensive hotels have power. Can't let the okes from FIFA sit in the dark now, can we?

Don't thnk that this is a magnanimous gesture on their part - the guy who knows how to flip the switches wanted this week off.

It's simply extortion. The same as the Enron scam. Cut people's electricity claiming the reason is "maintenance" and send the tariff through the roof with the same justification.

This is a get rich scheme for the ANC and their cronies. They do it with telkom and our taxes so why not electricity. They're using the power of the state to blackmail the citizens to line their own back pockets. There is no measure they won't go to it seems.

I'm enclined to agree.

Nothing that Eishkom says makes sense, nor are they consistant.

How did consumption Jump 10% from 2007 to 2008. This is a Production problem, not a consumption problem.

Rather dont refer to it as load shedding. It is called a black out. Load shedding sounds too nice. It is a monumental **** up by a lot of people. We dont have enough power to run this country...

Has anyone supplied by Johannesburg City Power been loadshat this week? Our slot is due in 19 minutes and I don't think they play by the same rules as Eskom. We were blacked out last Saturday, but maybe that wasn't "this week".
