Seems there is more than meets the eye with these loadshedding issues.

Escom was usually late in paying the trucking contractor's for transporting their coal.
Some companies went bang and others refused to transport coal.

Also the international price for coal is much higher than what Escom pays locally.The mines export instead.

It's just logical that Escom would end up with lower grade coal, if they could get it at all.
