Eskom's board has failed to meet its first major target set by government — improving the utility's generating fleet energy availability factor (EAF) to 65% by March 2024.

Eskom's latest system status outlook showed that the utility's power stations recorded an average EAF of 52.37% in the first 12 weeks of 2024, going up to 24 March 2024.

This is worse than at the same point in 2023, when the average EAF was 54.71%.

Once again they looking at the EAF incorrectly, planned maintenance is higher while unplanned is down compared to last year, last year unplanned was higher and planned lower. In fact April 2023 drops down to 51.6% EAF.

I wouldn't really listen to Chris, he's the one moaning about Stage 8 load shedding from Eskom when City power was putting into action their stupid schedule that would've maybe given 12 hours of no power.
He also moans about the EAF being lower but not that the fact that planned maintenance is 6% higher than last year. He also loves renewables
