Eskom CEO interview - Exclusive

In an exclusive interview with Chris Yelland of EE Business Intelligence, Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter gives his thoughts on the end-state of the electricity supply industry, and where things are going with the restructuring, divisionalisation, and unbundling of Eskom.

You can unbundle if you get the banks to assist with acquiring a portion of the equity alongside their debt and security.

Agreed, this isn't quick, but unfortunately due to it being govi owned it will be a drawn out process. Much like Telkom shouldve been split up and sold off over time to speed up telecoms competition, it took long because of govi's ownership.

Both the regulation and ownership are controlled by govi, so privitisation will take longer than we'd like it to.

hopefully corona will speed things up.

Was a very light interview. No hard questions asked. More of a friendly PR chat than anything. I expect better from Chris Yelland.

Some of the blatant lies in the interview weren't even queried.
