Eskom chased away skilled engineers

Many engineers left or were pushed out in the early 2000's. One of them moved to Norway and often posted interesting stories on MBB from Norway. His handle has just slipped my mind.

He seems to have developed a great life in Norway, and is unlikely to come back.

If anyone reads this article in the 1st post and learns something new, I would be deeply surprised...

@Voicy ?

I wouldn't rank myself among the skilled engineers. But I did work with many skilled ones who left or were pushed out between 2010 and 2020. I haven't kept up to date since then, but worrying to hear it got even worse after that.

I was even accused of racism by the one design engineer because I kept pointing out obvious flaws in their designs/documents on my projects (as I previously worked as a design engineer in the pvt sector).

The sad part is quite a few of the "less enthusiastic" colleagues I worked with moved over to Transnet because they were offering even cushier jobs/benefits than Eskom was at the time.

I appreciate that you find my ramblings interesting, my dude. <3

But yeah, I got my citizenship 2 years back and didn't apply to retain the green mamba. So there's no coming back.

Sometimes you need the simplistic and almost child-like perspective of a DailyInvestor journalist's headline to get the truth out.

Don't worry. I have all the trust in the world in the 'engineers' currently at Eskom. Somehow, sometime they will figure things out and give us so much electricity, we would not know what to do with it all.

Gwede vetvok and the minister of dancing will save us!
