But its been the same way for a decade.
Eskom noticed that should it sell less to some, it would have to keep hiking the prices to others to keep the lights on.
It produces less power now than 20 years ago, scary but true, almost half. (Do remember we import a lot of Power, so it makes the Eskom production even worse).
So as clients leave, or reduce power, so does their income dwindle, so they have to hike prices to keep up with it.
Its actually similar to say the SABC but they dont hike up prices, they just hike up fines above inflation.
So at the end of the day, most of the users of be it SABC or Eskom dont actually pay a cent, but they want it all for free.
And in turn thats how SARS works too. Govt wants more and more money, but compared to abroad we would be getting pensions, child grants etc for the middle class...we dont get anything from Govt for the tax we pay. We have to pay for that all extra
What we need is a tax revolt similar to whats happening with the SABC. Refuse to pay till we get a proper service.
