Eskom extends free SSEG registration deadline

Here's something I've always wanted to know... how does this news even get around?

Obviously here at MyBB we all know the good news bad news Solar registration roller coaster all too well, but does Eskom notify the average person out there about the current state of the roller coaster?

(I live in a complex so I never get Eskom direct comms, nor anything from management agents, maybe direct customers get notification alongside their bills?)

Are they completely reliant on the media to spread the word?
And if so, how can there possibly be legal repercussions for something this insanely mutable?

I know ignorance of the law is generally not a legal defense, but is this even law?
I feel like if there was ever a theoretical case in which someone had to go to court over something like this and claim complete ignorance as to the latest status quo in the constant confusing messaging around this topic, that any reasonable judge would be able to rule in that persons favor?

In addition to giving customers more time to register, the exemption has been expanded to include customers in Eskom’s rural and urban areas with systems that have capacities under 50kWp.

What is kWp in Solar Power?
kWp, or Kilowatt peak, is a measure of the maximum power output capacity of a solar panel under standard test conditions (STC).

Basically all home systems is exempt. To reach 50kwp even with 635W panels 50 000/635 = 78.74 Panels. So make it 75 panels to definitely stay under the 50kWp. Unless my understanding is faulty ?

If it's a national or municipal regulation that's gazetted then yes it's law but if it's simply an administrative communication it becomes a civil matter. Eskom doesn't have legal powers to make legislation.
 
Oh, great news!!! Wow! So considerate of them to extend the deadline… yeah, still not registering though.
