Eskom burns diesel

Eskom has increased its use of diesel-fuelled Open-Cycle Gas Turbines (OCGTs) to prevent load-shedding during the evening peak as it struggles to return some units to service on time.

Eskom’s OCGTs are referred to as peaking stations, which are plants used to manage short periods of elevated demand.

ag burn that diesel as much as you want

you already over charging so might as well do a good job of doing us in

use more diesel

I would love to see the total collapse of Eskom. Fark those illegal connection okes and subsidised people.

We shouldn't be paying for off-grid plus Eskom monthly fee.

We already like the top 5 most expensive electricity prices in the world I think.

Eskom does not need any more increases. They need new management/ cut bloated useless workers/ stop corruption/ theft/ nepotism/ BEE.

This is the reality of Eskom, they haven't sorted anything out, there is no plan, just all the diesel generators running 24/7 just to keep the lie alive by keeping the lights on no matter what. Government would have wasted 6 Trillion by the time this nonsense ends.

The only thing the ANC has achieved is ensuring that this country will never be anything other then a 3rd world backwater.

I assume that IPP OCGT (light pink) is lumped together in Mybbs/Eskom's reporting? If so then it's pretty constant.
I don't know about super recent, but this year still both Avon and Dedisa were running much more than recommended. Does Eskom not purchase this power at a much higher rate? French making a killing.
