Eskom issues nationwide power alert

They really need to make a plan & subsidize gas cooking.

e.g. I average around 120W usage during the evening...except when cooking then its easily 4000W+ (for a shortish period)
 
I am asking What a bout Manage mend off Electrical Power Supply is there a Managers or not Thanks

Actually I've got a lot of confidence in the guys managing the control center...

However the powers that be dealt them shtty cards (demand exceeds supply) so it doesn't really matter how good they are...it ends badly.

I suppose an extra power station instead of bonuses and overseas holidays over the last couple of decades would've been better.

Keeping our power local, and not exporting it to our neighboring countries would have worked even better.
 
I read somewhere that we are supplying Botswana because their power system has broken down..will have to search for the article

Gaborone - Botswana's only power station has broken down due to boiler leaks and generator failures, leaving the world's biggest diamond producer entirely dependent on power imports from South Africa's already strained grid, its energy minister said.

"All four units at the 600 MW Morupule B Power plant have broken down. Two units broke down in September while the other two failed early this month," Kitso Mokaila told a news conference.

The plant was supposed to be fully operational by October 2012 but has been plagued by boiler failures, leading to power cuts and rolling blackouts across the landlocked southern African nation.

Mokaila said scheduled outages would be kept to a minimum due to imports from South Africa, although this in turn could put added pressure on Eskom, the sole state power provider.

Eskom was forced to impose rolling blackouts for the first time in six years earlier this year to prevent the national grid from collapsing. The utility is racing to build new plants to keep ahead of rising demand after more than a decade of underinvestment.

Eskom confirmed it had increased supplies to Botswana under an agreement to export between 100 MW and 300 MW of power.

Another power station, Morupule A, is currently being refurbished and is expected to be complete in 2015.

The list of things that would have been better is very long indeed.

Still...I feel people aren't cutting the guys on the ground enough slack. This shtty situation is the result of disastrous planning over multiple years at the highest levels, not because Eskom staff can't manage the day-to-day situation.

Watch the bonuses they get.
They have been warned for years by experts that maintenance is essential but in true African style maintenance is a Western fallacy.
Well done cANCer in your typical style you broke something that is essential.
