Eskom pushes load shedding higher

Loadshedding should be seen as a permanent institution, even when Eskom's capacity is back at 100%. There will always be loadshedding. Businesses that cannot operate under loadshedding should leave the country as soon as possible.

If Eskom's capacity were back at 100% there would be no loadshedding.

The country needs an extra like 3-4GW at the moment to reach stage 0. We're talking about another 16GW+ at 100% capacity. You could stop loadshedding 4 times over.

If we could just get back to 10GW of outages we'd be at most stage 1 load shedding every once in awhile, but we've not dropped below 12 for a long long time.

Unfortunately, that would not be merely enough to support 50 million+ freeloaders, all businesses and the normal paying households in the country. Eskom, at full capacity started collapsing 2 years after Nelson Mandela became president and refused to ask for payment among poor communities. Like the minister of energy said, loadshedding started back in 1997. This is true, it was just kept quiet at the time. There is no way getting past this. There will always be loadshedding.

No it would be enough. You're talking kak as usual. Currently the gap between current generation and demand is objectively around 4GW. Go and look it up for yourself. You can see it plain as day.

Growth would still be an issue, but demand has curtailed, funnily enough as a result of loadshedding. So, with a properly functioning generation fleet, Eskom could easily meet current demand.

Loadshedding also didn't start in 97. Again kak.
