Eskom shortlists three CEO candidates

Will keep happening.

In 6 months time this process will be repeated when the newly appointed CEO steps down after realising there's no saving the sinking ship...

The ship has sunk already, he has to try and refloat it:ROFL:

Yeah...

And then they hamstrung him.... I fear that a similar thing will happen at Eskom... so they may appoint someone like Andy Calitz, and then just hamstring him entirely.....

To be fair he wasn't hamstrung because he is white, many other good CEOs have been victims of government meddling.

Yeah, he was hamstrung because government had a different and stupid idea it wanted to do.

If Andy is who I think he is (awaiting confirmation) and he is appointed, I believe Eskom will be saved and become very successful.

Yeah, and what happened ?

They wouldn't allow him to do what needed to be done so he resigned.

That seems to be a recurring theme (also at SAA).
Again besides the point, what happened to him had nothing to do with him being white.

I didn't say that it did.

I suppose that what I am saying is that it is no use getting competent management into any of these SOE's because the gross incompetence of the ANC will always overrule that management.

Jacob should be disqualified cos he couldn't do the job the first time around...

Of the 2 names we know of, Andy Calitz should be a shoe in.
Not knowing the 3rd person, I agree Andy Calitz should be a shoo-in (thanks Grammarly!), and could actually make the final cut. But I don't know if he could actually last in the job. He is an Engineer and not a politician. He will look at Eskom very closely, run the numbers and scenarios, actually read and pay attention to all the reports compiled by various sources on what to do, and finally come up with the best way to get Eskom out of the hole it is in. He will present his ideas to the board (aka the ANC), and be shot down and told to turn Eskom around without making any changes. He will then resign 1.5 years later for family/health/personal reasons.

You can put the best Power Utility CEO in the world in charge of Eskom and they will fail because the problem is the ANC and the Unions. The ANC needs to be removed from the equation (I would like to say by voting them out of government, but privatisation is more likely), and the nerfing the Unions which no Government will have the balls to do.
