Eskom takes back land after private solar projects fail

Interesting that the article includes a lot of words, but none on the actual background. And https://www.engineeringnews.co.za/a...erge-from-eskoms-land-lease-scheme-2025-10-31 about Red Rocket being the only one to have emerged from the scheme, along with 3 more lease agreements being signed (and presumably now cancelled or fell through).

Wonder what happened to all the money paid into those IPP ventures, and if any of it was ever spent on it, or just entirely removed via corruption.
 
I wonder if Eskom Green also had to go through the thorough selection process to be awarded the parcels of land from Eskom Holdings SOC since they are two different companies operating at arms length.

As a result, the land parcels once meant for independent power producers (IPPs) have been reintegrated into the Eskom Green portfolio.
