Eskom uncertain whether load-shedding will continue this week

So we are importing power from Moz and then exporting it to the rest of our neighbors?

The exports started when we were flush with capacity and are probably kept in place by contractual and political considerations. And the imports from Moz were just a cheap source of power for farmers back then so it made sense to import rather than build a power plant. Now that power supplements our creaking grid.

Those boiler tube leaks are at new plants. They were constructed of inferior material and welded incorrectly.

It's ironic that Hitachi lost the bids to deliver boilers to Eskom because of supposed poor quality welds. Meanwhile, the companies that ended up winning that contract have had disturbingly poor quality welds for years now.
