Eskom unit breakdowns at level last seen in December 2020

Eskom announced that its unplanned outages dropped to their lowest level in nearly five years on Friday, with just 7,265MW of capacity offline due to breakdowns.

The power utility said this is the first time that total unit breakdowns have been lower than 8,000MW since 11 December 2020.

Could swear we had loadshedding for Christmas dinner in '20 with an extra helping of curfew. Or was it '21?

The covid years are such a blur.

cadres are starving, wait for one of them to "accidentally" drop a wrench into a turbine for a fat juicy contract to fix it.
genuinely surprised it hasnt happened yet, they must have more cameras in the power station than a TV studio

I wonder what the load looks like these days. There have been a number of big factories and mines closing and solar has no doubt made a small dent.

The only time there has been loadshedding on Christmas was Dec 2022 and it was only until 5am.
New years eve was throughout that year and also the only time it's been on new years eve.

Right you are. Like I said, them covid years are a blur for me.

Try telling that to Pretoria East. I know it's not actually Eksdom but there are serious issues with power outages in Pretoria East but hey with a bunch of @ssholes in power what can you expect.
