Eskom announces imminent launch of "virtual wheeling"

Eskom has recently announced plans to launch an innovative new product which is anticipated to contribute to enhanced electricity supply and provide increased customer choice.

The product, known as “virtual wheeling”, is currently at an advanced stage of development.
 
The problem not addressed by this is that if you are connected to a substation that is turned off for load shedding, then you are not going to have power, regardless of who your supplier is so you are still hamstrung by Eskom's limitations. Presumably the ultimate aim is that if enough IPPs come on board they will add sufficient capacity to the supply that load shedding will not be necessary, but we are a long way from that.

In the meantime, the idea of wheeling loses a lot of its attractiveness.

I wouldn't calling a committee having a KFC family meal normally advanced stage of development. But here we are...

That article reads like it was written by Karine Jean-Pierre, with edits by Officer Harris. Good Lord, that was a lot of word salad with zero substance.
