Eskom wants changes to electricity prices

We were always going to pay that debt. Just get the Vaseline out and curse Zuma. Also the idiots who think it's a bright idea to vote for him again, while they stew in the indignity, poverty, ignominy and depravation of being the instrument of their own misfortune, and the weakest link in the country, for life.

I doubt opening the market to IPP's are going to be any cheaper than Eskom. Last I checked Eskom was selling electricity generated by IPP's at a loss, funny the article doesn't mention this.

Eskom selling for about R2,80 per kilowatt.
COJ selling at nearly R4 per kilowatt.
What value does COJ add to the supply chain.

Eh? That is only the case for the original windows. The latest bid windows have prices at about R470 per MWh e.g. 47c/KWh.

So don't spew nonsense...

If they keep this up , leasing solar will become way more popular... It's almost there allready

Most of the current IPP is also sourced to politically connected people, especially the first window.

Newest window is mostly competitive though, and below what Eskom generates it.

“If we look at our current fixed-cost/variable-cost split, it’s probably about fixed-cost 70% [and] 30% variable,” said Cassim.

Load the fixed costs to ensure you have to pay a high price. Need to test in the Constitutional Court whether you are forced to pay the connection fee as soon it will be cheaper to be 100 percent off grid.

Under DA rule it will be 3 or 4 times, if not more, whatever they charge now or will be charging. But ate least it will be working in 15 - 30 years.....

Thanks, I knew at some point they were crying about selling at a loss. But this all falls away with the seperation.
