Eskom will appoint an acting CEO

South Africa’s struggling state-owned power utility will name an acting chief executive officer when incumbent Phakamani Hadebe steps down at the end of the month, according to a person familiar with the decision.

The appointment will be made as the government readies a rescue plan for Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd., which is saddled with more than $30 billion in debt and isn’t selling enough power to cover its costs.

Why's Eskom hiring acting people? Should be permanent, no?
Yes, the acting CEO would probably be someone senior already within Eskom. A permanent CEO will take time, proper processes should be followed otherwise we are going to find ourselves having to contend with even more claims and accusations from the likes of the EFF.

Do you really think that any rational sane person would want to take that poisoned chalice? The EFF will do what they do regardless of any processes followed. I actually feel sorry for the person who's going to be acting CEO or even the permanent CEO as this is one thankless job.

Yes, I do. The EFF do not need to be given anything that would legitimize their nonsense, they only need to stumble on one thing and they will use that to give credence to their accusations, they tried doing their thing at SARS and they crashed and burnt, I just prefer things that way.

Agreed. My motto has always been to do things right from the get-go, with no comebacks. However, the EFF will invent things, if needs be.

I'm curious as to who would make the perfect CEO for Eskom - any suggestions, fellow opinionators? My suggestion is Chris Yelland, from EE Publishers - he seems to know what he's talking about.

Maybe they should go to drama school if they looking for an acting CEO.
