Espana vs Chile

Wanted to see if chile will sneak an equalizer, spains back four just kicked the ball to eachother for 10min while the other 17 players watched them

There was contact... showed in super slo-mo...

The play acting, the deliberate diving and attempts to get yellows and reds awarded smacks of players who are insecure in their ability to win legitimately.

For me, the bottom line is that I am growing intensely frustrated that the outcome of game is being dictated by con-artists and that the referees are being made to look like fools.

The "beautiful game" becomes more about drama-queens falling gracefully and gracelessly, and less about the amazing skill that some of the players possess.

I truly hope more yellows and reds are awarded to players who deliberately dive.

I agree with you that there has been plenty of simulation so far.

I disagree that you state that Torres went down without contact just before Spain scored their second goal. Earlier he got a bad kick to the right knee (the one that was just operated on) and the replays showed that it was a deliberate attempt to take him out. Did you see that? When he was tripped he hit his knee again and hurt it further. Hence his substitution a few minutes later.

But yeah, there are some prime divers, tumblers and other gymnasts at this SWC!

Moggie you actually have a good point though the red card was justice for that kick on torres. It was very nasty and seemed deliberate to me.

And Torres was grinning like the Cheshire cat when he saw the ref showing the red card.
Disgusting.
I hope Spain lose their next match.

Sat in Cat 1. How lame could only see a quarter of the field didn't even know Chile had 10 men on the field...and Cat1 people are boriing!
Never again!
Atmosphere was good, if only Spain lost :p

Cat 4 rocks.... ALWAYS!!!

Your clip proves that there was contact. What happened afterwards is not Torres' fault. As I said in a previous post, I would also have ruled it an accidental trip and no yellow card.

The contact does not justify the swan dive, nor does it justify the 2 minute theatrics on the floor afterwards.

To assume that Torres' behavior had no influence on the ref's decision would be naive.

Glad Spain beat Chile. At the end it was pure class in possession football. Chile gave up, they were happy with the 2 - 1.

Torres was horrible again. Pedro would have been better. Xavi dictated the midfield AGAIN!

Busquets was uber brilliant, setting up the 1st goal. I know some though Senna would do a better job, but Busquets is proving all the doubters wrong.

I hope Cesc is taking notes on the bench. Maybe Xavi needs to take him for some private lessons.
