Estate Agent won't return deposit

This isn't a "new" issue.. Estate agents tried the same on my wife a few years back, while she had to work a contract in George.
We had her brother who is an attorney write her them a letter and the paid within a day.

They also claimed that "the person they gave the money to vanished with it", which is utter BS as they're supposed to hold it in trust.
 
How would yo go about it if I now stay in Jozi and the place was in Grahamstown(EC)

Rental agent ignores my emails now..
