I'm almost certain that attacking an opponent with lightning is one of the tasks that these voodoo masters have to complete. The suspense of waiting forever for lightining to strike would surely destroy any opponent.
 
This is the kind of contest that was gonna be on display.

 
I wonder if this would have been dangerous for spectators. What if some novice summons lightning but can't control it and it end up striking spectators
