Hi all

I am having an issue with my gate motor Et500 motor... it beeps every few seconds - so I changed the battery... but now I noticed it says "No AC voltage in" - which I assume is needed to charge the battery.

Question is what is causing the fault (as I have to open the gate manually now)

2nd question, I do have an inverter and battery setup, so I don't actually need a battery in the motor as a backup either - can I convert my gate to run from house power/inverter power directly?

Thank you.
Have a lekker long weekend.

These gate motors run off battery and AC supply is to charge the battery only.
Check your breaker on db that supply your gate, seems that your feed to the motor is down.
If installed correctly, a breaker should also be within reach distance from the gate motor. It could be switched off / faulty.

Have you checked whether the Motor is getting 230v Ac in?

How would I go about checking that....? I checked now and noticed the transformer light is off....so definitely not getting power.

Will check when weather clears.

Checked that....breaker is fine...the power is fed underground, so I guess I have check if the wires haven't failed.

More likely that the ET step down transformer blew.
Rig a lightbulb socket with two wires and test incoming power feed to clear the underground cable as faulty.

This on the assumption that you don't have a multimeter to test.:)

I checked the transformer now, light is dead, so I disconnected it, and made a makeshift lead to test it from another power supply...led light still dead. So your assumption is spot on - ac adaptor is vrek.

Where would I get a new one though, based in Cape Town...searching for the adaptor brings up everything except ET.

If you have this supply you do need a battery. My motor use the battery only if no ac. Got a meneer power supply

Bought the transformer and all was resolved - somma chucked in a lithium battery as well for good measure

Someone show me a lithium battery the other day. It last longer, but does not have the same real power. If they would add more cells inside of them.
