I'm putting this in here purely because I know a lot of you have fiddled with your garage motors to make them smart so it's a good start.
Opened my door today and it jump about a centimetre and then stopped, pushed button again and don't recall if it tried to go down or just do it again but then stopped responding.
Switched it on and back off again (in blissful hope more than expecting results) and it tried again but same story. Released the door and tried moving the chain by hand and it wouldn't budge (I don't know if it's meant to but logic tells me it should free when released).
Took the motor off the rail and tried to turn the shaft by hand and it just said no, again not sure if that's expected as it's surely meant to be a "lock" when closed so one would expect it to resist.
Took the whole thing apart down to the gears and the motor still doesn't run freely when disconnected from the load settings, so surely there is nothing intelligent that tells it not to run.
Is it safe to assume the motor itself is poked and I need to get a new one?
