Hi, was wondering if yo can have a fax modem running on CAT5 cable? There's no Telkom lines in my complex and the Vodacomgs uses these cables now i have to adapt and throw away my old modem.

 What do you want to do with it? Do you want to send faxes over your Ethernet line?

I'm pretty sure that the modem will only take RJ11 plugs and not RJ45. But even if you made it fit. modems are for voice lines, not data....

If you already have an ADSL line then use that for faxes... you can use Fax and DSL on the same line. You might need a POTS Filter, but they're easy to come by.

A USB Fax modem is like R80.

Edit: Soz, didn't see you had no lines...my bad!

But vodacom offers a fax service, ask them.
