Hi guys. So yeah, the title says it all.

I'm currently staring at these two options:
1. BILLION BIPAC 2074 R2 HOMEPLUG AV 200 - http://www.zapsonline.com/42630-bil...plug-av-200-ethernet-adapter-imb-2074-r2.html
2. D-LINK PIDHP-307 http://www.zapsonline.com/51878-d-link-ethernet-over-power-adapter-.html

Now I've obviously read whatever reviews I could find online, but all of them just include a quick review and some basic testing. I'd like more info from anyone who might've been using a similar solution for a while now. I'm sick and tired of wireless speeds plus I want to start using Wake On Lan so I'll need a wired connection anyway...
A direct cable link would be awesome but that would entail drilling massive holes etc. A weekend project and potential ****up I'd rather avoid. Can't move the access point either since I'm already using a 5-8 meter phone cable and I'd hate to cripple my ADSL with even more resistance.

Thanks, in advance. :)

P.S. So far the Billion looks good because it has pass-through and since I don't exactly have spare wall sockets and it seems the use of multi-plugs does in fact make quite a difference. Although I am actually more concerned about latency than bandwidth so if the D-Link seems like a better quality option I'll go for that. Also, both support the "HomePlug AV" standard, not that I'm too concerned about that but I guess it is actually something to keep in mind for potential future upgrades.

Meh,IF you get them working ( same phase of power! ) then experience may vary dependant on load and copper quality. The few setups of these I did got 1mbps max stable speed

OMG PsyWulf.... that bad huh!?!
Well I live in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom flat. Smallish, about 60 square.... hmmm...

I tested some of these units several years ago (can't remember the brand) and was less than impressed with the performance.

Have you considered getting a quote for a wired connection from a cabling company, it could well be cheaper than these units.

Several years ago, I think that was the time when these units were running at about 10-14 Mbps. And no, I didn't even know using a cabling company might be an option (too used to doing crap like this myself). Not a bad idea either, I think I might just try and do that. Thanks MickZA.

I set a network up for my Grandmother using the Billion BiPac units. It worked for a month or two, but then something caused one of the units to blow a capacitor. I bought another unit to replace that one, and since then have never been able to get it to work again. I can't say I am a huge fan of them. If you are able to run fixed wiring, go for that as a first option.

I'm using a pair from Trendnet - and mine averages at about 12mbps for network copying. PS3 over that connection only gets just over 1mbps - to be fair, I am running it through a wall adapter on the one end and an extension plug and 3 plug extender on the other - oh, and from upstairs to downstairs.

It's not great but it's a lot better than the Wireless from upstairs to downstairs and serves the purpose for PS3 connectivity.

Anny reccomendations for good cable laying companies?
