Hi, Been having this problem for a while. If I use the Ethernet port to connect, after a while it will have a generic host error which I then have to reboot to fix as it stops all network connections and stops your pc from restarting (I have to push reset button :( )

Now I know I could just use USB but for some reason if I use USB then it doesnt connect to Steam :( I have downloaded and installed th fix from the windows site that was suppose to fix this but it didn't. I am on Windows XP Pro w SP2.

Any help appreciated

AHA! Basjohn has a solution for you my semi-young padowan!

I had this same problem a while back, it's a silly flaw in XP SP2 and after DAAAAYS of researching I found a sure fire fix. You need to download WindowsXP-KB894391-x86-ENU AAAAAND WindowsXP-KB921883-x86-ENU and that'll fix it 100% up. If you have trouble finding them then just find me on the hub, have them shared in my updates folder under "SVCHOST Problems"

Thanx Bas! will download asap & let you know if its all fixed up :D

edit: Seems to be working fine :D :D
