I have a Tenda router that has three available LAN ports, as I have 4 devices that need to be connected via ethernet cable, can I hook up an Ethernet switch to get access to additionalLAN ports or should I get a router that has 4 LAN ports

Takelot has a 5 port Tp link switch for R109, so that should give me a total of 6 LAN ports, 2 on the router and 4 on the switch, am I correct

The Tenda is a Gigabit router so each port on it is 1Gbps. If your internet is less than 100Mbps then the cheap TP Link switch will work as it is just a 100Mbps switch. If you have a 100Mbps or faster internet line I would suggest spending a bit more for a 5 or 8 port Gigabit switch. They aren't much more and if you can get a R200 off Visa voucher at Takealot will be worth it.

EDIT:

The 5 port TP-Link gigabit switch which I'm using BTW. Great device is only R209 anyways so will be cheaper than a replacement router.

Sorry, should clarify, the Tenda I have is not the gigabit version and I am at 20 mbps anyway
