HEEEEEEEEEEEELP whats the difference. My boss thinks i know everything, lol

If you want ADSL for the office, go with Ethernet.

Ethernet is basically the same as your LAN network - the same RJ45 connectors that look like big telephone cable plugs.

For the office, you would get yourself an ADSL Router with either 1 or more ethernet ports.

This you would hook up to your LAN network switch and then access it via a web-browser to configure it - all that info will be in your ADSL Routers manual.

USB is where you hook your ADSL modem directly to a computer via a standard USB port, such as what your mouse uses.

imho, it's not as useful as Ethernet, but it's a lot easier to configure - more or less Plug and Pray.

I am not clued up on ADSL, but I can tell you this: do not bother with a USB ADSL router/modem, just get an Ethernet ADSL router/modem.

Another thing, do NOT take out a 24 month ADSL contract with Telkom. You are better off on a 30 day notice ADSL contract, and you can buy an ADSL router/modem that is cheaper & better quality than what Telkom have been blind-siding people with on the 24 month contract.

This is the prevailing opinion on MyADSL site & it makes a lot of sense.

I don't know about USB ADSL routers, but I had a USB ISDN modem and would never again opt for something like that. I have a LinkSys Gateway and I am very impressed. Probably one of the best investments I have made.

Ummm, yes I realise I didn't actually answer the question:

USB is attached to a PC & can only be accessed from the network via the PC it is attached to. Also can be problematic when it comes to firewalling & internet connection sharing is perhaps not ideal with USB - it can be done, just not ideal though.

Ethernet is ideal bcos it is the native network medium, can be attached to a single PC, can be attached to a switch (well AFAIK) if you need many PCs to access it without going through an intermediate PC.

Basically exactly what bb_matt said.
