Hi all.

I know there are many travellers on this forum and would like some tips and suggestions.

I will be visiting Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Rome from late April till May. Will be 4 days in each City.

What is a must in each city?

There is restaurant called Van Kerkwijk just off Dam square in Amsterdam go there it's ****ing great.

I would swop Rome for Venice if possible.

I would definitely rather spend 2 days in Rome and 4 days in Venice. Venice is a beautiful place

Must see in each city:

Paris: The Eiffel, Notre-Damme, Arc de Triomphe, Montmatre and maybe the Moulin Rouge.

Rome: Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Vatican (the guided tour is worthwhile)

Venice: There is a free walking tour with two routes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon that shows some of the lesser seen sights and gives some background history.

Check out: www.freetourvenice.com - They make you "join" the student society which I was apprehensive about at first, but it seems to be some kind of technicality / legality. The tour guides are students and you tip them at the end of the tour.

Rome: Do the guided tour of the vatican book at this website: http://www.museivaticani.va/content/museivaticani/en.html that is the official website. There are a lot of fakes and scammers when it comes to vatican tours. Use the metro in Rome to get around quickly, it is easy to buy a 24 hour pass from machines in the metro stations. Other than that, get hold of a tourist map. These maps show all of the major tourist attractions and you can literally just walk / metro to each of attractions (trevi fountain, spanish steps, colosseum, roman forum etc etc.). There is a gelato place I highly recommend called Gelateria Fassi (best I've had) https://www.google.co.za/maps/place/Gelateria+Fassi/@41.8976555,12.4941011,14.5z/data=!4m13!1m7!3m6!1s0x132f6196f9928ebb:0xb90f770693656e38!2sRome,+Metropolitan+City+of+Rome,+Italy!3b1!8m2!3d41.9027835!4d12.4963655!3m4!1s0x0:0x6d8b7cc65a24f7f0!8m2!3d41.8935445!4d12.5081223

Amsterdam: Rent a bicycle and cycle around, this is the best way to experience Amsterdam in my experience. Go to Vondel Park and have a cycle around. Visit Museum Plein, do Anne Frank house if you haven't done it before (book online to skip massive queues). Do a boat tour with "those dam boat guys" https://www.thosedamboatguys.com/ had a great experience with them. Red light district is a must I guess, but not my favourite part of Amsterdam. There are a couple of really great coffee shops (Kandinsky is my favourite) if you are into that type of thing.

Enjoy.

Yeah no doubt, imagine a bunch of tourists cycling everywhere. That must be the worst. But when you are the tourist on the bike cycling around you don't really give a **** because it's awesome.

I decided against it I can barely walk, I kept looking the wrong way and thinking traffic was clear meanwhile a bike was hurtling towards me from the other direction.

Yeah agreed, cycling is scary as hell but that adds to the experience. You will be cycling in a bicycle lane then all of a sudden it kind of disappears and you are on the road and you just hope you don't get hit by a car/tram/bus then you find your way back to to the bicycle lane then you have to go around a circle and have no idea what you are doing but just take a leap of faith and hope not to get run over.
