I said I don't think every single player is to blame as well. I don't believe every single one is playing poorly. It only takes a handful of poor performances from key players to bring down the whole team. You can only play as well as the conditions around you allow.


The problem as I see it is a) the setup b) McClown c) certain players who aren't pulling their weight and are above reproach.

I agree...Still think they have what it takes to play a LOT better than they have been, despite all of the above issues.

They didn't do to badly against Brazil and in the first half against Germany but I think it won't get any better than that.

If I was the manager I'd make many changes. Extreme I know but that's how bad the situation is.

If all players were avalable

Foster

Neville/Terry/Carra/W.Bridge

Pennant/Hardgrieves/Gerrard/J Cole

Owen/Rooney

Subs:Carson/Crouch/Richards/Fat Frank/Lennon(or A Cole)

Now that's a team that gels and will work for you ;)

no shaun wright phillips is doing awesome

his biggest problem is lack of game play, if chelsea stick with them and england do i can assure you, you will see the 20m guy back

swp has only been poor because he plays here and there

dedicate him every game and he will be the most dangerous winger in england

as you saw in the england game tnite him and joe cole caused chaos

personally i believe SWP to do massive things this season now that he is getting a chance
 
Biggest issue is that McClaren has a blind spot in regards to certain players...

They can play as kuk as possible but sit there safe in the knowlege their place isn't under threat. Look at Cara, far and away one of the best defenders in the game and yet hardly ever gets look in when people like Ferdinand play like a sock full of porridge.

There is your problem. Players not being made to work for their spots. Oh and bringing in a has been so called forward (Heskey) instead of giving a promising youngster a chance.

Players will only play at their best when given a reason to, I know playing for your country should be reason enough and by God if I were picked to play for England I would put in every effort I had.

I guess it's a combination of younger players not getting a look in, older players feeling that the position is theirs by default and poor tactics..

The hemoginy between the players is not great and I think you can lay that blame at McClarens feet. I'm pretty sure the reason for carra not playing is cause he plays for 'pool, I can't think of any other reason why a manager would leave him out for so long that he quits int football.. I'm also pretty sure McClaren would leave out Gerrard if he thought he would make it back to the car alive after the game..

ah well, at least we won last night and anyway, the premiership is far more interesting and Pool are finally up where they belong after 5 years! :D

also i would bring in crouch

swp wing joe cole wing, crouch and heskey/owen up front, stevie and hargreeves in the middle :)

Perhaps the same reason Pennant can't get a sniff. He unlike SWP has at least a reasonable final ball.

Sorry but Joe Cole is not a Left winger.He's a playmaker and should play behind the Two strikers.I cannot belive Jose Mour has'nt realized this yet.

England looking so much better without Rooney, Lampard and Hargreaves.

I say Barry should play ahead of Lampard.
Rooney can come in for Heskey...
I have never been a big fan of Hargreaves...
 
I wonder the English fans and press miss Sven now?? He may have had 2 many affairs but atleast he always got them to the finals and into the knockout stages.
