I've been playing BF2 for about 6 months now on Win2k.. Then yesterday I checked for Euroforce booster back and it was available from EA using their EA downloader. Luvly so far.

But EA downlaoder will only install on XP :( so grabbed laptop with XP and downlaoded fine. But now I can't get the booster back off XP onto Win2K because the file is some format that only EA Downlaoder recognises.

So have bought Euroforce ($9.99) but can't install 'cause my pc is Win2K. Hopefully some clever person finds out how to get round this 'cause upgrading to XP right now is not an option.

Found the work-around

spent a few hours hacking and attacking and have managed to successfully get Euroforce installed on a win2000 pc.

You need access to an XP pc just to get the download; I borrowed a friends XP laptop; installed the EA downloader and bought/downloaded Euroforce ($9.99).

A few hours and 370MB later, the EA downloader gives you the option to install Euroforce. You need to 'install' it so that the EA downloader 'unzips' the downloaded proprietary file to a directory with normal setup files.

You don't need the original BF2 installed to 'install' Euroforce; it will bomb-out saying that BF2 can't be found but this is fine.

With explorer, goto c:\program files\ea downloader (or similar; can't remember exactly). You'll find a directory starting with your BF2 online nick and a whole bunch of numbers/letters. This is the directory with the setup files. Burn them to CD and you can install Euroforce on Win2K using the CD.
