Evaluate ADSL Alternative

Just returned to SA to hear about Telkoms' line rental increase
I currently use ADSL for Internet connectivity.
I make about R20 worth of landline calls per month
I use about 20GB of data per month, about 15GB being for video streaming.
I would like to evaluate using mobile data only, but have concerns about connectivity / speed.
I want 24/7 connectivity and a constant 4 Meg
Are there tools available to test for connectivity / speed?
Or must I simply but pay-as-you-go SIM cards from each network and test in real life?

Why are you looking at 3G and not wireless?
A wireless connection will give you stable speed and is a lot cheaper and more reliable than 3g.
Look at Comtel or Bitco or anyone else that services your area.
