Eve-Online

Hi Guys,

Been playing since may 2004 and loving every second of it, have had a few problems in the last week or two with lag spikes, luckily not lost any battleships during a fight.

Gimme a shout ingame will be nice to hook up with ya, there are two other South Africans in my corp namely Seaflanker and Darksun69, and mine is DarkWrath.

Hope to see you online and hopefully we have good standings :P

I don't know if its just me, but this lag is getting worse every day. When i started a couple of months ago i had no lag

Ye just for the last few weeks it's been bad, before that i hardly ever had a problem.

lag has been a bit bad of late. but nothin to serious for me.

Yeah the sheer size of the game is massive its the biggest game universe ever developed with over 25K diffrent systems to go through, and they keep building more and more.

The story lines etc that they build behind the game is really facinating too. Think some ppl do get a bit lost in the "Role Playing" part of the game sometimes, and it runs on a full economy system which is excellent.

Hi, there.
I've been playing eve since last year August and been totally addicted to the game since then. Prlby the main reason why i fork out 700 rand a month for internet.
Re: the universe size. the eve universe currently only has bout 5.5k systems +- and def not 25k. Interesting side note though is the way they explain how the stargates work. It turns out that an stargate can only be put at certain points in space where two binary star's forces interact with each other.
Now heres the doozy. If you look at eve by numbers then there is absolutely no system in the whole game that is a binary system. Therefore the whole fabric upon which they base teh stargate system is flawed. :)

Regarding ping times. I've found that my pings stay stable most of the time and only fluctuates really bad when my brother downloads pron :) or WO is doing something with their antennas.

There's bout 8 or 9 of us currently playing this evil game. If you ever want to contact me in game just pop a eve-mail to unit01

see you in space cowboys :)

I think what they mean is when two stars, one from each system create a gravimetic field, and this is the poin in which a stargat can be bilt, of course i can be wrong.....

Well soz to disappoint but direct quote from the tech of eve.

"3 - The principles of jump gate technology.

Jump gates are built around artificial wormholes, created by exploiting gravitational resonances found in binary systems. This resonance is as a friction between gravitational waves of stellar objects, the more massive the objects, the stronger the resonance between them. Positions of planets in a solar system, as well as the complex structure of dust rings around heavy planets illustrate this resonance."

If you wanna read the full article pls do so.

Oh btw. Did u know that one of the mods of eve-i, arguably almost a sister site to eve-o's official site( they even have the devs of eve sometimes refer to them), is a south african? They have a little 6 man i think crew also running the game there in the upper part of za.

Yeah i did know hes was South African, hes the Main News Editor for the site, i've been looking into how mnay south africans actually play the game, not that many tho, but its nice to have a South African leading the website :)

there are around 4 ways to by game time,

Paypal
Credit Card
Game Cards
E-Cheque

I prefer to use Paypal cos its connected with my bank account in the UK, so its just much easier, but being in South Africa you may prefer to pay by Credit Card. Not sure on the Costs check the website http://www.eve.is

For anyone ever interested in eve here's a little vid...(okay by Telkom limits maybe not) showing off what can be done in eve. It has to be mentioned that the vid has been tweaked a bit and made to look a bit more than it truly is but rest assured all footage is actually in game.

This video has to be said is if not the best eve vid ever then it certainly marks up there with conkoreddon and the like.

Really do ure self a favour and get this vid.

Ok so that means if i ain't got a credit card im not gonna play eve wonderful any other idea's????

apply for creditcard without credit, anyone can get it..

@Clipse you see i would but my father (toby) wont exactly enjoy that as i am 17yrs of age puts me at a stand still

@17 u can get a credit card easily, i havnt got a sa bank account yet, but i know that you can get one as clipse said, that works as a debit card, basically just top it up at a bank account.

OK well i have a debit card at the moment but by the looks of it i cant use it to pay for the account im hoping there is another way around this my card is maestro and cirrus which i have little understanding of

In the UK you are able to link your debit card to the paypal system which i did, I have never owned a Credit Card, as while i lived in the UK i never needed one, as most stores accept maestro, but now that I'm back in RSA i now will need one.

Toby - Apply at 20twenty.com , they provide a debit based mastercard if you dont apply for line of credit and you dont need a steady job or what not for it.

Also, its a great bank, i use them as my main bank account and really good service.
