I know about all the threads on how internet has gone down since the start of the year, etc. This is a strange problem though, and it's not ISP related as I get relatively similar numbers on my Telkom account, WA account and afrihost account.

My line was down since the beginning of Feb and was finally sorted yesterday. My router is fine (billion 800VGT), syncing at 4096/512

Attenuation: 17dB Down, 6dB Up
SNR: 17dB Down, 15dB Up
G.DMT

During the day my line is fine. Not perfect by any measure as I only get about 2.5Mb down and 0.42 up but I can live with that as downloads go at around 300-320kb/s

However, come night time it all goes to s***, and I've called to have my port reset which didn't change anything. Pages take minutes to load. Gaming is impossible, and grabit doesn't even download it's batch.

Here's my afrihost speedtest results. I would post the others but telkom is capped and WA doesn't even load the speedtest.net site :/

Same problem here. Afrihost 50gig capped account on a 2meg line and I've been struggling the whole week. I had problems with SNR since mid Dec, but had Telkom out a few times since so now my SNR is stable. Well sort of, it did hover around 4.8 for a while today :-/. The line doesn't lose sync as much, more like someone somewhere is pinching a pipe. DUmeter graph looks like a heart monitor where the patient alternate between flat-line & alive. Someone mentioned it could be a problem with IS but I'm thinking its area based as well 'cos some people are unaffected & flying at full speed 24/7, not me. Easynews is running at 4kbps at the moment, feels just like I'm shaped.

Lemme show you an example:

DUmeter shows line has just choked: http://mybroadband.co.za/photos/showphoto.php?photo=21827&cat=500

Routerstats show 'steady' SNR, no disconnnects: http://mybroadband.co.za/photos/showphoto.php?photo=21829&cat=500
