As the thread title suggests. I was just reminded of the two times that I "died" in a dream and did not die in real life. Just to be clear, I know that science does not support this fallacy in the slightest.
So dream 1:
My mates and I were in a building very similar to the large building with the spiral walkway from MiB. The one that Will Smith runs up in the opening chase scenes.
We were all daring each other to jump from higher and higher balconies. We had reached about floor 3 when I got the bright idea to bet high and simply win. I ran up to the 20th floor and jumped. Instead of waking up before I hit the ground, as you are prone to do. I actually hit. I remember looking at my body and seeing it all mangled. And feeling a vague sense of paralysis. I know that was just my sleep paralysis bleeding over into my dream. But it was still a freaky feeling when interpreted by my dreaming mind as a result of my injury.
Dream 2:
Living in a treetop canopy society. We got attacked by some barbarian types. In an attempt to save my loved ones, I squared off against a few of them. I managed to take a few out, as they were bottle necked by the rickety rope and wood construction bridges. Then the biggest bastard my dreams had ever seen arrives, with an axe in each hand.
He swings, I duck, and instead of my dreams playing me out to be the invincible hero. I get a battle axe straight into my back. With my last strength I carry the behemoth off the rope bridge with me and to the ground below. Not that I died mind you. I just remember the oddest feeling of, wow, I actually got hit by that axe in my dream. Because I knew I was dreaming and was having a bit of fun with it. Just didn't expect my own subconscious to stab me in the back. Traitorous swine!
So have you ever been injured in your dreams where you didn't wake immediately and had the opportunity to experience the surreal after-effects?
