Enjoyed a while of low but stable stats in my new place (this despite being 2km odd from exchange) until 2 days ago when my service dropped about 7 times and I saw a tech up the pole. Now, my stats have gone from 120 down and 60 up to like 48 down and 60 up. of course phoning them has produced nothing but the usual "Eish I dunno" but it was obviously something the damn tech was fiddling with. I know all I can do is fiddle my thumbs until maybe someone eventually comes to the house to see what's up but I had to vent. So so tired of Telkom and their ineptitude :(

Look at this BS ...... even the line speed has dropped - was on 11 attainable and 8 solid

Hi Mephisto Helix, according to your Downstream Attenuation of 445 dB, you are 32 km from the exchange. Something’s badly wrong. At 2 km from the exchange your attenuation should be 27,6 dB.

1,0 km = 13,8 dB
1,5 km = 20,7 dB
2,0 km = 27,6 dB
2,5 km = 34,5 dB
3,0 km = 41,4 dB
3,5 km = 48,3 dB
4,0 km = 56,0 dB
4,5 km = 62,1 dB
5,0 km = 69,0 dB
> 5,0 km (sorry mate)

If you stay in Margate, the techie up the pole connected your line to the exchange in Port Edward. Hehe.

Got told it's an area thing and there was maintenance happening to fix it - nothing happened and nothing changed. Have spoken to 4 different agents since - all 4 have something different to say. Chatted via FB, got nowhere. So all in all, the usual telkom meh ..... And all because some knob came and fiddled on the box  This morning the SNR dropped to 2, no jokes but yet, nothing can be seen at fault. Does my head in.

Some routers show the stats in 0.1 units.
