Ever owned a Ford Escort? (second generation)

See my link in my signature! you will find everything you need there!

Cool will register right now.

Thanks for the answers.

Are they difficult to work on and get parts? It's going be hard to find one that hasn't had any work done and it's hard to tell if they knew what they were doing.

How much would I expect to spend on one to make it look better/fix any mechanical problems?

I had one just like that, same color! Great ride...

One of my friends had the same car. He got home one Friday and his dad sold it and bought him a new car. The problem was that there was still half a bankie hidden between the wires under the dashboard when he sold it...

That sucks! After the escort got I got an Escort Panelvan for 6 months.
Some twit rear-ended it & came off 2nd best!

Most of the mechanical parts are fairly easy to source.
They are easy to work on!
I saw you registered, feel free to look around and remember to do a quick intro first. There are lots of experts that really know their Fords who will be of better help then me and even to give a helping hand where needed.

There are tonnes of these around Durban.. usually done up with big exhausts and wheels...

I reckon they're easy to maintain, and if the guys in Durbs who own them are anything to go by they're probably a lot of fun to drive.

Yup - Brakpan and Durbsnall is the place to look! :p

Nice little cars - be prepared to do plenty of maintenance, not because they are troublesome, but because of the age of the car. If you are buying an older car, you need to be an enthusiast, as well as someone who knows a little more than putting air in the tyres ;)

You could also be heading into a whole new experience, when the word "oversteer" becomes a weekly occurrence, particularly in the wet, or on slippery dirt - great fun once you know how to control it....bloody terrifying if you don't expect it!! :D

Courtesy bump for a fellow CT fella on Carb, R35k, looks pretty neat.
