Plastics were not made for human consumption, and yet consume them we must. Tiny remnants of these synthetic polymers have now leached into our air, food and water, and avoiding them has turned into an almost impossible battle.

A study of five popular seafoods, bought from a market in Australia, reveals just how ubiquitous these micro pollutants have become.

After buying five wild blue crabs, ten farmed tiger prawns, ten wild squid, ten farmed oysters, and ten wild sardines, researchers found traces of plastic in every single sample.

Thought-provoking. At home, we are constantly trying to improve our habits in reducing and recycling of plastic.

Same, all my stuff goes into recycling and I try to avoid it where I can, but it isn't easy since so much produce comes wrapped in an insane amount of plastic.

I have become so pedantic that I walk out of a shop with the items purchased in my arms ... and if too many, the trolly. Our children are so used to the drill of emptying the boot like this. We have a couple of black crates that we pack and carry out of the garage into the house for multiple items.

And when offered plastic in the stores, I joke about the environment and how we all need to do our bit. Hopefully the message will sink in someday, somewhere :X3:
