Evetech - any issues?

I'm probably, also one of the lucky ones. I bought from them a few times, though never had to return stuff yet. Will probably give them a wide berth, next time.

Pretty much of the same viewpoint. I bought from them quite a few years back. Everything went pretty smoothly. That's usually how things go until you have a warranty issue. That's normally when the wheels fall off.

Some of their specials are really tempting, like the recent Rage SSD deals they had, but I can't see myself buying from them anytime in the near future based on their bad aftersales record.

Bought from them earlier this year, got my products and things went smooth. The only real criticism I have though is that the packaging of the goods was appalling. They just threw my goods into a courier bag and shipped it that way. Wootware always take extra care and package it decently, same goes for Rebeltech. Doubt I'll order again soon from Evetech, but wouldn't write them off completely just yet.

Yep, it's the returning stuff that is an issue. Especially when they give warranties less than the manufacturers.

And I love their website - it's so flashy and full of colours. Almost like gaudy fish lures...

Read everything on this thread and placed an order for a new pc with wootware !
I will agree that evetech has done a really good job with their website. It's a shame that they invest soo much on the looks but do nothing about the service they provide.

I bought an Asus ROG laptop from them, was also hesitant at first, only complaint i have is the "free shipping" was only to major centres and also if you don't pay via EFT the price is more.. Kind of backwards if you ask me. Haven't had issues with my laptop so I cannot comment on after sale service.

I actually hate their website. Zero filters.

I was browsing their range of monitors. Everything is loaded onto one page. Wootware lets you filter by size, response time, brand, panel, resolution etc.

They're actually not allowed to do that but our banks don't enforce merchant rules. The pay more is usually only supposed to be when you deposit cash.

Just to share also had an issue when returning a failed 1060, had to pay to send the card to them even though it was under warranty, then they sent a card that had less supported graphics ports 3 instead of 4 also it was display port instead of hdmi so have to buy a converter to use both my monitors and the power connected was 6 pin instead of the original card's 8 ports, also took a while to get the return back. Maybe I'm fussy, just a lot of inconvenience, I'll definitely use takealot in future much easier returns, no extra fees and most of the items lately have been cheaper on takealot than on evetech. Just my 2c, take it or leave it :D

My experience from Evetech ain't so great. I bought a liquid pump from Evetech, worked for about 6 months and suddenly it stopped working and my CPU ran at 90+ degrees. And I wrote a whole report for them and stating what I have tried to fix it. And they kept pointing out it is my fault that I broke it and after long hassled they agree to take it. After a week they said okay it is faulty and order me a new one. But I had to pay shipment costed me R500. Plus another R500 for CPU cooler (temporary) just to put on my computer to work. Definitely buying from WootWare from now.

I'm about to get something from Evetech and they were the cheapest around when I checked last. Hopefully things goes well but I will remain sceptical until I've actually tested all the components I will be receiving them. Will try to let you guys know.

Update:
Evetech has done an excellent job i.t.o. the delivery and the components I ordered (MB, CPU and RAM) does look great as well as the CPU cooler from Raru. Ordered all components on the same date (late night on 30 Oct) and were all in stock, but could only pay for the Raru order and then for the first part of my Evetech order (MB, RAM) on the same day through EFT (Evetech) and CC (Raru). The next day I paid for the second part (different order #) of my Evetech order in full. and also sent through the proofs as requested by Evetech. Throughout the past week, both Evetech and Raru has kept me up to date on the status of the order. Raru delivered my order on Monday this week.

Evetech sent my orders using BEX Express and were nice enough to combine the two separate orders for delivery.
