I've changed my system in the last day or two - and thought this was an interesting photo of the evolution over last 18 or so years.

I was about 21 years old with the first picture ... living with my dad and pretty much the first speakers that I had bought myself (MBQuart) . I didn't care about complexity, too many remote controls, cable management or aesthetics back at that stage ;) Also, the more amps the better at that stage - and gadgets that weren't really needed (Worldspace satellite receiver!)

Also I see my first media streamer from around 15 years ago (https://www.tomsguide.com/us/pinnacle-showcenter-200-brings-hd-to-the-living-room,review-495.html) - was expensive, slow, clunky - but fairly advanced the age. I was sending photos and music to my old CRT. Upgraded soon after to a TVIX ... and skip a number of years, using a Smart TV.

From the pallet wood stand, I tried to simply everything and 'show' the bare minimum - so the only thing visible is a processor, which I like seeing the modes etc on the display. The amplifier (a single box now) itself is hidden, as are a few other odds . Even the sub-woofers are hidden.

very nice setup!

if not for the space restrictions, I would also have a more 'invisible' approach

my current project is to put some cooling on the AVR, as it runs at +-44C, and it looks like it's going to be a scorching summer in Stellies.

debating whether to get one of these on Black Friday: https://www.amazon.com/AC-Infinity-Front-Exhaust-Receivers-Components/dp/B078PQJSRY

Nice!

But why does it run so hot ?
It looks to more than enough room?
