So, this weekend Evotel were at my area's boom (Eden Glen) handing out pamphlets.

Until now, I'd not heard of them. I was intrigued so I did some searching of the interwebs. I'm still not sure whether I actually discovered anything on them.
Their pamphlet says they're a subsidiary of some major company, but nowhere on their site do they say who.

The pamphlet lists Option A (Month to Month with 1.5k install fee), or Option B (24-month contract no install fee), and the costs for their various speeds of symmetrical uncapped/unshaped links.

The pamphlet also has and option for Open Access, with a QR code to show their providers (this just gives a 404...)

I've only found one real mention of Evotel in this forum, so I'm curious as to what experiences people have had of them, as that one mention doesn't fill me with confidence.

Thank you in advance.

I'm in one of the estates in Greenstone and have used Evotel for almost a year now.

Their service is pretty good. Have had very little downtime and when there is, it's restored quickly. I went with their 10Mb option and the line speed is consistent.

They are a small company but seem to go out of their way to please their clients.

We are just about on their network as well.

A bit more on the costly side for pricing on the higher end packages, compared to e.g. vumatel, frogfoot, etc. and they only operate in estates. Still way better than Telkom.

Closed vs Open Access is the only question to ask in this instance.

Well their pamphlet does have an Open Access option, just the QR Code that lists all their providers, links to a page that throws a 404 (not a good sign?).

Also, since their pamphlet only asks for Complex name along with Body Corporate details, and not road/street name and number, I might not qualify anyway. :(

Edit:
We are just about on their network as well.
Maybe they are Open Access...

Hey Blustorm, good thing you asked the question, Evotel are running in my complex and have been pretty much screwing us around since December 2016, they were suppose to have had the backhaul installed in November but only got a wireless dish installed in January which is what we have been using so far, its only 10mbps and struggling to access some pages. We signed up for the hefty priced 50mbps package which still hasnt come into play because apparently the company installing the backhaul for them have been "screwing evotel around" We were told 4-6 weeks in February and apparently the most recent update is that they havent heard anything concerning the company installing the backhaul. In the process i have seen telkom lay down fibre backhauls outside my complex and their sister company STDR actually splicing the cables, maybe its not even telkom laying them down seeing as STDR is doing the splicing. I am going to make a similar forum post about this cause im in need of some help.

Evotel. Any good?
Not really. In the last 2 weeks they are out virtually every day. This weekend absolutely nothing. ISP Cool Ideas apologise, but nothing they can do. SMS says technicians are looking for the problem. I need fibre access for business with Africa, EU and US. Getting desperate. Any ideas anyone?
