Wait a second people don't leave their cars in gear when on an incline? Uh. General rule of thumb, put the car in a gear opposite to the way it would roll. So if the rear of your car is putting down the slope put it in first, put it in reverse if the front is facing downhill. Second thing is turn your steering wheel to the side so that if it does roll, it rather scratches the car next to it, instead of rolling down the hill and possible wrecking your car and another (or killing someone).
Your gear theory won't work with a gearlock.
hehe. The direction doesn't matter - you can always put it into reverse regardless of where its pointing & the effect will be the same. The only thing of any interest is whether the 1st gear or reverse gear has the lower ratio, generally their similar but it depends on the car. Either will work really.Wait a second people don't leave their cars in gear when on an incline? Uh. General rule of thumb, put the car in a gear opposite to the way it would roll. Thats kinda odd - with a gearlock in 2nd gear you'd still be able to drive the car away. Not very gracefully sure...but still. Most gearlocks I've seen use reverse.Well normally a gearlock would require your to put your car is gear, normally 2nd... Well at least the ones I had.

if I was student and able to afford driving such a car I wouldn't be bothering with studies

The car was parked correctly, it was the tree which moved.
Sure...you'd need a car to tow it though.Doesn't matter what gear its in, its still easy to steal. One guy just sits in the car and keeps the clutch in.
That's pretty normal for an Audi, considering how close they get to the rear of other cars on the road.
