Excanging dollars to Zar

Hi. My boyfriend and I are from Western Cape, SA ( I am a citizen) currently visiting family in California. We’re returning in two weeks and as I haven’t used all my spending money I would like to exchange it. My question is just how much am I allowed to bring back into SA without the need to declare it . Currency

Currency brought into or taken from South Africa is monitored by law. Should you have South African currency exceeding R25 000 or foreign currency exceeding $10 000 (or equivalent), this must be declared.

But if the currency was originally bought in SA and is being returned, then there should be no issue.
