hi,

Is there anyway to pull the username and password a Excel file is using for a data-connection?
I can't see it in the Connection Tab but the sheet refreshes as usual.

Anyone know of anything that can assist?

Is this on a Windows domain - might be passing through currently logged on credentials? Or Perhaps using cached credentials - check Control Panel --> Credentials Manager

Windows Domain. When I try connect from my SQL studio it doesn't work so I'm assuming that's out. Can still regret it as normal in the file though.

Does the file have any protection enabled? It's odd that it's using a "connection" and not showing any. It could be a script, check the VB window.

Yeah, my money would be on that it's being set elsewhere by a macro or something.

Sorry my post wasn't clear.
There is a connection in the connection tab. Everything BUT the username and password for the box.

No macro's.

We get that, but if windows authentication isn't working, the connection string may be set elsewhere, and the value used there may contain a username and password.
