Excel Training part time

Hi

As a working 40 something I am wanting to get some training in Excel. On my own initiative I started a DB management program for my company (small private) which specialises in sales.

But true to from, I have been floundering around and have developed a pretty cool (I think) system which keeps track of sales, COS, reconditioning, salaries (based on commssion structures) etc.

My problem is that I have written some great formulas (based on help from various forums) but I lack some basic knowledge - ie. protecting worksheets, copy and pasting formulas etc.

Been a family man and working full time I would like to study part time. I need the discipline of set time frames and assignments, but the flexibility of studying on my own time.

My goal is not only to perfect my current project but to increase my knowledge in this field.

Any ideas of what options I could look at?
 
This is how I learn: I think of something I want to do, and I Google it. There should be tons of tutorials on there. So, if I wanted to protect a worksheet, Google "protect worksheet excel 2013" and Bob's your uncle.

Sometimes, and this is where formal training would help, you don't know there are features that you could use, but that's why Google is so awesome, typing a normal question in normal language to it usually yields great results and with further research and reading up on solutions, you'd find that you learn much quicker and you're usually able to adapt to a new way of thinking much faster.

I use a Project Management tool called Asana to add tasks for myself including deadlines after planning/researching an outline of what I want to achieve. In the end it's not useless projects I can't do anything with, I end up with something I can use because I planned out what I wanted to learn/achieve and did that.

Plus, my way it's free :D

I hear you and agree 100% and this is how I have learned what I have so far.

Maybe I must look for a course outline and try and adapt from there.

Also having a formal commitment will help with the Mrs not been at me cos I am on the PC every night.

Ah yes, one of the perks of being Single is not being hounded by "you probably just playing games"
