Excessive GPRS billing on MTN

16MB? Is there even that amount free on your phone? Can they tell you what site you were 'connected to or downloading from'?

haha, 16 MB, no !

I have subscribed to a service from Autopage that will send me my balances on a weekly basis via SMS. MTN Active always gives me a problem with loggin in. So I will be able to manually log and compare my usage at least every 7 days.

I feel so helpless here. What happens if they suddenly bill me R4000 for data usage? With Vodacom I have so much control. Can see my usage within 3 hours on 4ME and it is within 1% of DUmeter's estimation and usually in my favor.

Will keep you updated. The first thing that I will check is my usage since 9 Dec 2005. Haven't used data since then. If I get a bill for usage since then then all hell will break loose :-)

Something I have noticed with my subscription: (SOMETHING POSITIVE)

I have had the 350mb bundle added and, on my most recent statement, I noticed I am not being billed the full R220.00. Only for the megs I use @ the lower price.

Why?

I was under the impression that I am billed the full R220.00 and then forfeit the balance not used by the end of the month.

I feel I should not have mentioned this.

Has anyone had the same experience?

Got my statements back. GPRS charges stopped the day I stopped using it. So that means that their software is actually triggered at actual use times.

Got my wife's statement as well. Her GPRS usage is about R6 total. The funny thing is that she was basically one of the few people I chat to with MSN but her statement shows small amounts of data use. Hmmm

Will have to log my usage and compare it to my statements for next month.

PS. Autopage's SMS statement thing sucks. Costs R3.99 (and I can be sure to be billed) but it has been 2 weeks and I haven't received a single statement yet. You should think twice before signing up with them.
